A continuing look at some alternative search engines - this week OCCAMM.
[occamm.com...]

This is a Topical Tag and refinement driven engine powered from Bing Results. As you search, tags (umm Keywords) are suggested. Selecting a few tags, and then searching again further refine each search.

The results offer three views of each SERP entry.
  • Preview: An excerpt from the page.
  • Summary: An AI(?) generated view of the page content
  • Interest: Related topics(?)

Occamm offers a unique view of search with SERPs that are refreshingly quiet and completely JS driven page.

Other than that, there is next to no information about Occamm on Occamm. Most of that info was gleaned from third party sources.

This may be the person behind it.

I can concur it is an alternative search engine. Played with it for a bit, wasn't that impressed. The "tag" selections seemed to offer more confusion than refinement.

I just got around to kicking the tires on occamm. The results are Bing results, nothing to be said about results. As for layout and function...

- I like the keyword cloud, they should make each keyword clickable. Right now they just highlight and need another click at the bottom.
- I don't like the summary button, it loads the content in the occamm window as one big blog of never ending text.

If anything it's a good seo tool for finding related keyword suggestions quickly and for free.

I also like this little tidbit hidden inside the code - they use a privacy oriented analytics alternative to gather visitor data
