This may have existed for a while, but this is the first I have seen MSN [auto.search.msn.com] add paid listings at the top of their results pages, coming before their (Looksmart) directory listings. So far I've noticed this on only a few searchs, but where there's smoke there will be fire!

Featured Sites are links that MSN Search editors believe are likely to be particularly relevant and useful, chosen from sites published by MSN affiliates, partners, sponsors, and advertisers, as well as other sites proven to be especially popular among our users.

My searches mainly deal with the music category, and so far I have only seen Amazon and other vendors listed in these *featured sites*

"featured sites" are for big-time advertisers. last i heard, these were million dollar deals... prices may have dropped a bit, but MSN considers these its best ads, and you pay a premium for them...
