Why Google is at the top

Why people don't really rely on other SEs.

I launched a new site and I thought I'd share my experiences with the search engines from a fresher's perspective (though I've launched tens of them till date).

1. While developing the site I put noindex tag so that the site doesn't show up in SEs.
2. Later 2 days after I removed the noindex tag, the site's homepage got indexed by Google. But other SEs like Bing & Yahoo still had no clue.
3. Now after about almost a week all site's pages are indexed by Google and none by Bing or Yahoo.
4. Searching Google gives relevant results. Others search engines break the sitename.com into site<space>name and try to show poor matches.

*I must mention that I didn't put the site in webmasters tool or submit it any other place.

I surmise the real reason why people love certain search engines is because the search engines love them back. All a new webmaster wants is to see his site's presence felt... that some SE cares and notices the site. And here the game seems to be first come first served. If Google gets to the site first and shows the results then Google is what the webmaster continues to use; and simply because it works for them.

I thought others could learn something from this fact and fix up their crawling crawlers. What's your experience?

If i am looking for a document i use g because they cache everything. It might be hard to find through all the clutter but usually it is there, although lately the clutter is getting worse which has caused me to abandon some searchs.

For regular searching i bing it and for shopping it is duckduck.

Don't mix up "people" and "webmasters".

Webmasters are certainly people, but very few of them "love" Google (it's business, not personal).

I suspect that most here would prefer there to be real competition in search. Meanwhile their efforts are concentrated on what searchers actually use.

Many members of the public ("people in general") do seem to love Google, though, and it appears close to impossible to get them to try anything else, regardless of merit.

Get yourself a Bing webmaster tools account and add your site(s). Be sure to upload a sitemap file for each site too.

Another tact is to link to your new site(s) from a site Bing already knows about.

Either one above has been suggested at times here before, but I have no 2015 experience to tell you which is best.

I will say to be prepared for a long wait. What you are experiencing seems to be Bing's way with no other alternative, sorry! Yahoo! results come from Bing btw, so no extra effort needed to get visible there!

Bing results don't seem to jump all over the place all the time either ... It's as if they don't need to stir the stew as often as Google does ..
