The Redwood Shores, Calif.-based company today unveiled an entirely new content curation site, ROCKzi, which lets people consume and socialize around the news they care about in a visually-appealing environment.
“It’s Pinterest meets Flipboard,” said blekko co-founder and VP of marketing Mike Markson. “It’s real-time content that we present for a variety of topics, that we put into this fun format for users to interact with, by voting, commenting, submitting and sharing.”
Blekko, not content with revolutionizing the search market, is now getting ready to revolutionize the Pinterest(!?) market. The company behind the spam adverse search engine has launched ROCKzi that it characterizes as a cross between Pinterest and Flipboard.
The "like x but with y" formula is tried and tested, so perhaps Blekko is onto something here. Then again, nobody is really in need of yet another "social" news platform. Under the hood though, it may have more in common with Reddit than with either Pinterest and Flipboard.
There's a long thread here that reveals the "character" of the people behind Blekko, you'd be wise to read it, and consider if you want to use anything from suchlike at all.
Thanks Angonasec. I'll opt-out of anything blekko until they support the rights of webmasters by honoring the noarchive tag.
