Excite will not index my site.

I think I got penalized for spamming so how...

I have been submitting to excite consistently every three weeks but I'm not getting indexed. I think they have me for spamming. Should I keep submitting? Also, I payed the fee for Looksmart through Excite and I thought that would fix the problem. But I don't think so.. Any input will be much appreciated.

phillypleez, Excite updates maybe twice a year, if they feel like it. It's so long between their updates, there's no reason to be alarmed. It just takes forever.

If you did anything other than resubmitting that could cause problems correct it, but otherwise I wouldn't worry about it. They're no big generator of traffic, though every little bit helps; it all adds up. They're certainly not worth stressing out over. At one time I totally forgot about them altogether for a long time, and then one day I saw some referrals, and the sites had been added when they updated. Just sit tight, they'll get to you some day. :)

Excite does update their index, you might want to look at this thread, [webmasterworld.com] where we talk about the most recent indexing. Seems that they recently attempted to clean it up a bit, before the big sell off.

Give them about six months, don't bother with resubmission, IMHO. They probably dump dupes from their que before they finally decide to let 'er rip and start spidering the new stuff.

The Looksmart thing I read before was supposed to guarantee that you were in their db...and last time I read, that was supposed to take three weeks or something. Could be that since they declared bankruptcy, nothing about their submission scheme will be regular (it wasn't before, but I'd expect even worse now).
