it looks to me like aol has changed the way it filters inktomi data into the results.

a number of my positions have slipped quite drastically?

any one else?

Yes, my dmoz listing used to be at the result I got. Now a paid inktomi page shows up before this one...

You could be right - however I am not complaining as I seem to have benefitted quite considerably from the changes.

Looks like DMOZ listings are boosting my rankings - seems to be very similar to Netscape search similar things seem to have happened there.

i know there was a drastic change a few weeks ago, but it seems to me that there's been another, maybe more subtle one in effect very recently.

Yes mr_dredd2 I have noticed the same thing, I got a big boost for some sites about 2 weeks ago and this last few days the listings have changed very slightly.

There also seems to have been a change in the ordering of the directory listings. Anyone else see anything there?

Nothing on the diretory, haven't taken much notice of it to be quite honest.

I have a hunch that the latest changes to the listings may be as a result of the Inktomi blacklist revelations.

So first we had the Dmoz revelations so AOL gave Ink listings more prominence for a few days. Then we get revelations about Ink so AOL returns DMOZ listings to the forefrunt. Or not?

Anyways...the old results seem stable again, with sites in DMOZ prominent...Does anyone have any ideas as to what happened those few days?

Maybe they're just testing their own technology? There is a thread kicking around about AOL spiders...

Or they took their own offline to update the database and returned it when it was done.

It seems to me that something changed.

If you have several listings in DMOZ, Looksmart and you are in the Inktomi DB you are in the top position.
