I want a search engine for my site. We don't wanna use google custom search or anything from google. Currently we are using javabscript but after having it installed it takes much time to load site.

Do you know any tool or script that works fine and doesn't even hamper site loading time?

You might want to look through the listings at ODP for established providers of search.

ODP - Open Directory Project

Is your site just static html? Or was it created in a content management system like joomla?

I have tested several lately and have come to like Zoom mostly because there is an option to have thumbnalis next to the text result. Try a search for Zoom Search and you will find them. (I hope it is ok to mention the name, no affiliation)
