Alexa announced today the release of their Image Search in Beta, and they have some new search platforms too.

Are they planning to compete /hit google? Yahoo + Alexa + Msn Vs google?(cooperation between Yahoo and MSN on the messenger part to face Google talk) or is Alexa cooperating with google in these search platforms?

What you think?
Thank you

Apparently, the beta has only 10% of the images they expect to add during the crawl currently taking place.

In addition, Alexas has:-

  • Camera Image Search - enabling a search based upon a specific manufacturers camera.
  • Robots.txt search - lets you see which sites block which crawlers.
  • Zip File Search - finds files buried in zips.
  • HCard Search - helps you find HCard contact info.

I got an Amazon Web Services Beta account, and have been trying to duplicate their Ruby-based Camera Search.. so far no luck, and after two weeks no response from support.

It is an amazing system though, with lots of potential. I'm really looking forward to getting past the initial problems that crop up when I queue my jobs and seeing what we can make this baby do.
