Anyone know of the size of the index? (if they are using its on at 100%)
Im guessing it contains little over 100 million pages...
I like it tho, but the blue color is hurting my eyes.
seems spam free suspect thats cos spammers havent hit yet if they can keep the spam out they will achieve what other SE's have failed at

Your ranking of search results seems a bit strange. I ran a workshop (being an academic by day) last year called "Innovations in Web Infrastructure" at the WWW conference. If I search by my surname, I get a page with this text in it (http://www2005.org/tutorials). If I search using the keywords: "innovations" "web" "infrastructure" "iwi" (the last being the workshop acronym, the same page doesn't appear (even though all words are on the page). If I leave off the last keyword (the acronym), I get a whole host of results, but the page doesn't appear in the first two results pages, even though they're all next to each other on the page.

Out of the 300 plus more familiar engines and directories, I could only name maybe 10 off the top of my head. I've already forgotten what this new engine is called.
Shame really, they went to all that trouble of building the thing and screwed up with the name - that's quite funny lol.
If so, then how come that they list pages from my site that have been removed for months and are not used as links on other sites? I have never seen their bot on my site.
I also do not see anything named the mojeek in the long list of bots that crawl my site. However I do see results from my site.
So the question is, how is Mojeek identifying itself during crawl or is only just another meta search engine?
Google and inktomi were marketed with perfection and have more easily remembered names. The business name is so important, especially where the internet is concerned.
Unless you 'purposely go all out to memorise 'Mojeek'
you won't think to type that in over say Yahoo or Google. Google is well known the world over, Mojeek is not.
Mojeek has nothing unique about it as far as I can see,
so you're telling me to use it just because it has a big database? But so has Google, and I'm more likely to remember Google or inktomi than Mojjek. Oops, I even spelt the name incorrectly, and it's a good job I never typed that into Google, as mojeek wouldn't have come up.
It looks likely to be another 'me too' operation, without a single thought towards originality or uniqueness. I wouldn't waste my time worshipping anything that isn't established.
It must prove itself first and then I'll reconsider.

When Google first appeared not many people could actually spell it correctly - its all question of getting used to.
I think any new SE really is up against it because Google have set the bar very high indeed. Most new starts will be on a very limited budget, whereas the big players have huge reserves in terms of funding for R+D
It can be interestedig to follow the footsteps of a new start that has ambitions. I think Matt Wells really came through by showing us just what a one man show can really do with Gigablast.

Impossible? Maybe improbable, but not impossible. A mere six years ago, I had never heard of Google, and today, notwithstanding a fair amount of satisfaction, it hasn't become my sole choice for search.
The other week we were developing the "IVER LARGEONE" search engine that only indexes porn websites.. grin..
It only works every so often though..the "Peekaboo" search engine that indexed magic based websites never got off the ground.
I heard that it dissapeared into thin air! grin..
From my own tests, it seems like they have a real crawler and index, very small of course.
seems useless for NON-US results
