How to best get listings crawled and ranked

Does anyone have any experience or ideas with these niche search engines? I work for a firm that has recruitment clients so the goals are a little different from consumer SEO. Top rankings on a site like Indeed or SimplyHired could be more valuable than Google or Yahoo.

I imagine many of the old mainstays will still hold true - relevant text, header, good keywords, etc. But what else do you think comes into play? I'm not sure that anyone has really optimized for these sites before but I'd like to get the discussion started.

I must be missing something here but dont the two sites feature the content supplied by you. ie you send them an RSS feed they upload the lot or you send them details and their bot helps itself.

Also, do they not charge you for the traffic sent on a PPC basis?

They have options for feeding, but I didn't see any PPC element (at least not on Indeed). I'm pretty sure these guys also crawl for listings. However, from test searching you can sort by date or relevance - obviously getting ranked higher on 'relavance' searches would be nice.
