AOL plans to expand the advertising appearing on its search page, the article said. It will also use the unusual approach of charging advertisers based on how many telephone calls are generated by their ads.

So it sounds like more ads per page, probably like Ask Jeeves has. The telephone call thing sounds like FindWhat's new offering.

skewing= to favor ones own content properties in the search results ... yahoo sometimes lists their in-house stuff at the top of search results.... the results are skewed in their favor

An improvement. The Hot Searches is cute. Oddly, when I do a query in FireFox, the top site/URL in the SERP attempts to write a cookie (without any action by me).

Why didn't AOL learn something from Google? What do users want? A simple and clean interface. Period. Keep it simple, stupid!

I don't need a simple design like google. I need information that I want that is easy to find, like My Yahoo. At least I can get some local weather, news, etc. Yahoo is so much more diversified, not just a little text box.

I used to like google, until I noticed myself consistently going back to Yahoo to get some quick news clips and weather all on one page.

The SERPs are marginally the same.

i havent for like 5 years or more. well when I think about it Ive used other dont really remember it.
