Alexa developing It's own search engine

Alexa is developing it's own search technology to challenge google

I recently received an email from alexa.com that suggested I should use their results to backfill my own Meta search engine.

The demo is at: [vista.alexa.com...] and claims to have 2.8 billion pages in its index (even though the email stated that it is bigger than google).

um.. the Amazon Search Engine (A9) uses Google results, and so does Alexa for the moment. When it goes commercial (I mean, commercial), I think it will be replacing Google for both of Amazon's engines.

I would say this one has a VERY VERY long way to go..the results are worst than LookSmart for gods sake, even though this one has a bigger index!

Does this explain why I've been seeing a ton of hits from the alexabot for myblog.com/[category-name]/index.rdf (e.g., myblog.com/marketing/index.rdf and myblog.com/personal-musings/index.rdf and so on)?

They are increasing their database size massivly. It now reports 3163676793 pages.

But they don't seem to be working on relevancy. Although you can make it more relevant by messing around with the options a bit
