Looksmart Back Live on MSN *Again*

Looks like LOOK is back live again on MSN

What in the world is the story here? Is MSN testing a new version of LOOK in hopes to bring it back in the fold? This is the 2nd time they've brought their search results back from the dead..doesn't seem coincidental to me..

Its Monday, so it's looksmart day on MSN. At least that is what happen for the past several weeks.

Even when they get the Ink results back, it wont help
for my industry as the spammers have rediscovered MSN.

I went from #8 in Ink to #40, with about 30 listings
of the type 'find the best deal on widgets in [insert your favorite city here]', ahead of me.

very interesting, at this moment i see different results using mozilla and IE. Opensource gets looksmart, IE returns Ink.

Interesting. The Ink results on MSN are more spammier this time. I checked the pure search at positiontech,
and we are above the spam at position #5, but below the spam at #28 on MSN.

Maybe, MSN is using old Ink results. Have anyone notice how long it takes before pure ink results gets
transfered to MSN?

MSN does not use pure INK results. They apply their own algo tweaks.

I have seen loads of spam - doorway pages, spammy redirects, etc.

It looks like a big mess to me for certain searches. :(

I might start thinking about buying their stock, obviously MSN is seeing if they can re-shuffle them back into the fold..

Rubbish! Read the terms of their agreement - MSN can use the L$ directory (as it was in Jan) for the next 999 years if they want to, as the basis of their own directory. They have the rights to use the content as it was at the termination of the agreement ad-infinitum. They aren't allowed any updates.

I am wondering if I have seen similar business practice from MS like this before
many years ago a company called citrix produced the early thin client technology and was quite successfull MS then released a press release saying they would no longer allow citrix to use the 32 bit kernal shares dropped like a stone and 4 weeks later MS snapped up the company

I don't believe MS ever acquired Citrix - they just bought their multiuser technology and reworked it into Windows NT Server 4.0 Terminal Server Edition.
