Holding an MSN position

Top 5 placement for 1 month now vanished

I've had varied success over the years with MSN, and a month ago appeared in their listings (not paid inclusion) in a top 5 spot.

In the past I had tried changing things around to get a higher MSN position on several sites, only for the sites to fall out of the rankings regardless. This time I decided not to change a thing.

- no backlinks changed or added
- nothing changed at all on the site
- no incoming links from anyone else

I have given up on optimising for MSN - simple H1 / title / 1st paragraph stuff is made a nonsense of with MSN..

It's been exactly one month since this occurred. I don't believe it's because the site hasn't been updated - had the same scenario on another site which lasted 8 months in there.

Perhaps has something to do with PFI?

Anyone have similar experiences / any ideas how to stop this happening?
