Looksmart Gone from MSN

I'm in Houston, TX and they are gone still. I have tried a bunch of searches and they are gone.

Everything is the same except no directory listing. I go to search.msn.com

This was discussed last night on another board where I hang out. For some of us the Looksmart listings were still showing and for others they were gone.

Yes, I am seeing the Look$mart here in China. If I use a UK proxy, I am seeing Inktomi result. :)

It's rolling out.....From here in Florida 3 of my 4 ISP's are now L$ free zones at MSN.......Oh Joy! At long last, and a few days earlier than expected this time :)

Well, I'm still seeing "Web Directory Sites" in California.

Note that if you click any of the "About" links that MSN will resize your browser. I absolutely hate it when a site does this... It's a really dumb move for MSN to do it.

From my normal account using IE... gone. From my normal account using Opera.... still there. From an anonymous proxy... still there.

A bit of a mixed bag then. Maybe they have just started rolling it out (but I have no idea why there would be a difference between IE and Opera).

From IE, Looksmart vanished.. ( Losesmart....)
From Opera Looksmart still there!

Looksmart is still on MSN in Kentucky. I guess us hillbillies are a little bit slower on getting looksmart out then the rest of you.

I noticed today, that they took the word "Beta" away from MSN Search and the looksmart listings are still gone. This looks like it, the final demise of Looksmart off of MSN.

At least I now have a replacement for Google.

Which sort of confirms a test status... on the basis that they can presumably read more from their own browser than some else's.

Actually It depends on the search phrase I use. Looksmart listings are showing for some terms.

The Google door closed on us, and the MSN door opened to replace the traffic. Even though we were the top looksmart listing, we did not appear in the MSN placement for looksmart, as we were being screened by Geographic location. Now that looksmart is gone from MSN, we are near the top.

Good riddance looksmart!

I clicked on "add a site", or whatever the term they use is, on MSN today, and it sent me to LookSmart. At LookSmart's site, there is a message posted saying that MSN will not be using their directory as of mid-January '04.

I saw LS listings on MSN, but not on all searches. Seems to me as if they are phasing them out.

Today, I see my listings are at the top of the MSN serps for just about every one of my keywords. I sure hope this is permanent.

It's not "permanent" as MSN is planning on launching their own algorithmic search engine [news.com.com]

IMO, this will take some time and MSN will stick with INK during this period. Combine this with the inevitable full scale switch to INK for Yahoo!, and INK just became a HUGE player.
