hello,

Lately, one of my sites is getting very good traffic/referrals from MSN, almost 70% that of what google sends.

Though, i have not seen msnbot in my logfiles as some of you have seen it, not sure whats powering MSN at the moment?

Anyone else also seeing good traffic from MSN to their sites?

Cheers

I'm going down steady in MSN, about 20% of where i was 3 weeks ago. How does one optimize for INK? My Yahoo referals are greater then my google referals now, so none of this is making much sence.

Inktomi is powering MSN at the moment, but that could soon change.

Anyone else also seeing good traffic from MSN to their sites?

One of my sites is getting very good traffic from Inktomi/MSN. :)

My MSN traffic has gone up as well. My looksmart ads are much cheaper than my Ad Words or Overture.

Since G's last update, I actually got a hit from hotbot. I haven't seen a hit from hotbot in almost a year I bet. My MSN hits are up by 50% also.

Other than MSN ... i am also getting few referrals from altavista. dogpile, AJ, AOL and few others too, though they are very small compared to others.

Is this a sign of people stating to use other search engines again now after Google's florida update?

Thanks

It doesn't sound too farfetched... you could be right. I wonder if there's anywhere we can see cold hard stats for that.

Wow I was just gong to post this today, our MSN numbers are way way up since the 17th of November.

Also, I even saw a few referrals from Hotbot and Altavista. I guess people are looking for alternatives.

MSN traffic is great - so qualified - they buy.

Does that only apply to the Inktomi results, or does it also apply to LookSmart and MSN Featured Site listings?

Of course most of my MSN refers are from looksmart. I guess that will go away. :(

LS listings will be gone from MSN soon, so no matter what, his LS listings in MSN are going to be gone.

That is true panic, but what I meant was that the Ink listings will move up the first page (or rather get onto the first page) of MSN's search results.

Man my MSN traffic was up a lot yesterday. I had 1 site MSN was the number one reffer and google was number 3. Another one had MSN number 2 and google number 1. This is not normal for these sites.

I am also seeing a great increase in hits from MSN/Inktomi over a wide range of topics.

Good traffic from Google, MSN, Altavista and AskJeeves. Even traffic from directories has been on the increase over the last three weeks.

I looked at the referrals I've been getting lately and their hostnames, and about 90% of all visitors that come from a search engine (new visitor, essentially) have a .edu hostname.

I'm guessing this is because it's about that time to do finals or to write term papers, and students are doing research on my topic.

I'm loving this :)

For one of my information sites, i am getting 25% more than google.

Yahoo happens to be somewhere around 6th with very less referrals. Looks like Y is experimenting with something as its got neither INk nor G in its SERPs?

Cheers

I am getting some MSN traffic, thanks to my Zeal listings. (Both my sites are informational.)

Will there be any way to be listed in MSN w/o paying for it after MSN quits using Zeal/Looksmart?

Everybody says MSN will use Overture & Inktomi -- both of which sound like $$$$$.

Very interesting to hear how Florida seems to be helping spread search traffic away from Google and to other search engines.

Any more anecdotes on growth in traffic from other engines?

In Europe we paid 159E to get listed in MSN. It was a paid listing probably trough Looksmart. When MSN will boot Looksmart within a few days does this mean they remove those listings as well or what? I guess overture still is at the top spot after the removal of looksmart.

Any ideas?
