crawler918.com is it eating up my site. Who is it?

Hello-

Within the last week a few of my sites have been getting crawled quite a bit from crawler918.com (IP 12.148.209.196) and I am curious if other people are seeing it as well.

I have read the old posts in the "Deprecated - Search Engine Spider Identification" from about a year ago relating to crawler918.com.

[webmasterworld.com...]

The strange thing is when I did a lookup on Samspade.org it says the Organization and all contact information is for:

register.com
Unpaid Names Department-R
etc.
Created on..............: Mon, Feb 18, 2002
Expires on..............: Tue, Feb 18, 2003
Record last updated on..: Mon, Apr 21, 2003

Is the crawler still associated with NameProtect?

Guess I am just trying to figure out why the heck this thing is still living if it has expired or if Register.com now has something to do with it. Anyway...guess I am curious if others still see this crawler on their sites as well. I am now blocking it.

Dunno if they visited my sites recently.

I have them blocked since months.
Not worth a second thought imo.
