Subject: $1,000+/day? Suggestions?
Hi!
Would anybody be willing to speculate, brainstorm or share personal experience, suggestions and observations on how to make $1,000+ per day as an affiliate?

If you are in real competitive areas, then with great rankings you can get over 1K per day from just a few sites. However for most affiliates, the way to 1K per day is to make more sites in the areas that you know make $$.
Fact: $1000/day is probably putting you in the top percentile of affiliates out here. Probably in the top 10-20% of the attendees at PubConf. (Did I scream HINT?)
Fact: I had posted some similar posts about eight months ago when I was considering quiting my day job and putting my personal security and son's college fund on the line. All of these responses sound very familiar ...
Fact: You're not in nursery school and no one here cares enough about your welfare and your income to give you their most profitable AM's phone number.
A few things you can do to help steer this discussion...
1) Research. To make a $1000 a day at an average commission of say 5% on the low end, you'd need to be selling $20K of product. At $10/lead you'd need to get 100 qualified leads. What sort of markets can get you these figures? What sort of traffic would you need? What sort of business plan would you need? Or, would you need them at all?
2) Investment. You will have to invest your time and money into this venture. $1000/day is not going to happen with you stopping by a cybercafe while going from your day job to the pub. Some people here may make it seem like it can, but for 99% of the rest of us, it takes a fair amount of hardwork.
How much time and money are you willing to invest?
3) Lateral thinking. If you're going to take an idea or a program that every one has tried here... what makes you think it will work for you? Do you have a unique spin on something?
4) Skills. Do you have the requisite skills? They typically involve design, coding, project management, negotiating with AMs, writing sales pitches, buying psychology, SEO .. the list goes on. You will need some basic skills to give you the edge.

Read the older posts made by folks like dogboy, Go60Guy etc. (This is not an award ceremony ... but if I did forget your name, accept my apologies and be assured I'll buy you a drink sooner or later.)
I bet if you can write a 500 word summary to the library of this forum, you've figure out what it takes to unlock the $100-$1000/day income.
Finally, make an effort to network with the people who do this for a living. The chances are you'll never find a sucessfull affiliate in your peer group, so look at going to the next PubCon at the very minimum.

I think the hardest work on my part is getting a close relation to the merchant. But I still only spend 2 and a half hours max per day on business.
Use your unique combination of skills to leverage success from opportunities you conceive of in a way which wouldn't work for other people (because they don't have your skill combination).
Carve out your niche.
Consistently outclass anyone who tries to be a "me-too".
Nobody should be able to beat you in doing what you do the way you do it.

By extrapolation, getting to $10,000 a day is just as easy ;)
Spend $5,000 per day in advertising and you should be able to make $1,000. (and im not talkin profit here)
If you were to spend $5,000 per day, you should easily make $15,000 per day. If you've optimized your biz correctly.
Like Michael Anthony has stated several times, there is no "right" way. There is only the way that you like and that works for you.

I can totally see this. Once you can make $100 a day, you can make $1000 a day.

If you want to NET $1000 a day then sell information (which includes affiliate programs)
If you're looking for bragging rights (which it seems many people get high on) go with product-based sites and you can GROSS $1000/day in no time
I have some product-based sites that I built when I was just getting going that didn't take long to get up their in volume, but the revenue from my information-based sites is cash & carry with hardly any operational cost and no COGS
