I think you know what I am talking about. Supertrick, AdsGone, Norton firewalls, they all prevent CJ links from being displayed.

Has anyone come up with a solution for this? I've read in other threads that using the IP would circunvent going to the hosts file (is this true?) if so, cant we enter the IP address where all the qksrv links are?

The downside to this is that the IP could change. I'm sure there's gotta be a program out there that can DNS lookup the real IP for the domain and plug that in as a variable on the pages where qksrv are called. (assuming you have a dynamic created page..). Even if the IP info gets updated only once a day or so, sure beats the heck out of continuously losing CJ commissions every single day.

Anyone's opinion on this idea?

If the url is an ip address there is no need (and no use) for the hosts file as it only provides a host->ip lookup.

I don'T know if CJ uses any "tricks" like load-balancing via DNS or similar stuff, so I don't know if updating an ip database on a daily base would be enough - but I sure wouldn't try to do a live rewriting of the links on a dynamic page. Most people propably don't have problems seeing the ads but they would also suffer from slow pages caused by the extra traffic.

Just my 2 cents,
