Now that Google Penguin 4.0 real-time has been fully rolled out, we can observe the impact in our update threads and Penguin threads. For many, they are still in the Penguin waiting room, and that suggests recoveries are unlikely. Don’t get despondent, Penguin is real-time, and if it’s revisiting sites that have been cleaned up with a disavow there’s a good chance things will change. Of course, it will depend how badly impacted the site was in the first place. Google says you should continue to use disavow. Of course, if it’s a manual action you’ll need to use a different process.
Google AMP continues to get attention, and it seems as if Google is developing it on the fly. There has been some criticism of AMP of late, but it turns out that some webmasters are misconfiguring their sites and its analytics.
One big news item this month was a presentation to WebmasterWorld’s Brett Tabke when he was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award at a ceremony in Las Vegas on 12 October, 2016, US Search Awards. Congratulations to Brett for his long-term commitment to our industry, it is well deserved, and thank you for everything you’ve done for our community at WebmasterWorld.
There are many other educational topics in the forums in the last month including, Google AdSense discussions, new technology and software for webmasters, what to do after being hacked, and what to do when more traffic comes on less valuable keywords.
As usual, that’s a quick run-down for this month. Join the WebmasterWorld community and keep up-to-date with the news and topical discussions by following WebmasterWorld on Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus, and to use our RSS feed and home page for the hottest topics.
See you in the Forums.
