Welcome to the October edition of WebmasterWorld's Monthly e-mail.
The eagerly awaited Google Penguin 3.0 update is finally here, and webmasters from around the World discuss it in our forum threads (see below). It took over a year for Google to start to roll it out, and it's still not complete. According to Google, the roll-out is expected to take, perhaps, a few more days yet.
On top of the Penguin update, and a Panda update a short while back, there's also
the anti-piracy DMCA update demoting sites and queries. The refreshed rules are in our thread on the topic.
All in all, it's making the SERPs swing around a great deal.
Are you one of those hit by Google Penguin, and waiting for news of your site returning? Join our threads and let's have your comments and views on exactly what's happening to your sites.
For some, this was a little bit of a shock: Yahoo is to close its directory! For others, this was probably no surprise. End of an era, imho.
We're continuing to develop WebmasterWorld each month, and there are some new benefits for members coming in the next few days and weeks. Keep a lookout for those as you’ll soon notice the positive changes rolling out. To remind you, I hope you've updated your new profile page, which allows for much more information about you and your business. It's especially valuable when you'd like others to get in touch with you and your business.
You'll find out more and be able to join our discussions on all the latest news and topics in our threads. Take a look through the news and discussion we've mentioned, plus others in this month's update.
We're Feeling Lucky,
Jim and Neil
