Hello everybody, im a new member with a question thats stumping me

I will try to explain best i can.

We have a domain (lets say WebmasterWorld.com) and we want to point subdomains of that domain to our domain controller at the officer. Thats working fine.

When the subdomain gets to the DC, we need the DC to then forward the subdomain to different machines within the network. this is the part thats not working (and i dont know if its possible)

So for example, testing.WebmasterWorld.com

we need this to point to our domain controller, that in turn forwards this on to our internal IIS machine so that it can serve the website to the user. Is this possible?

currently we setup a forward lookup zone on the DC (thats on the external IP that the top level domain points to (WebmasterWorld.com)) and setup a A (host) record that points to the ip of the IIS machine.

or becuase the name will resolve to a local IP, will this never work?

Does it always have to be an IIS server sitting on the external IP?

many thanks for your time,
