We have a commercial property that is well split up into niches. It's a pretty dry industry (and dry functionality too) and not the kind that would attract that many links for the sake of its content.

But - I've noticed that many of the highest ranking sites in our various niches are actually irrelevant or inactive. For example - Niche A brings a #1 rank site that does Niche C and D. They're all respectable companies and I think they're holding position thanks to their domain age and position in the industry as a whole, since their content on the whole is irrelevant or non existent.

So I'm wondering about approaching the organisations that have these "lucky" listings to link over to our niche page to fill the gap.

We have a system that allows us to reward actions on our site, but I'm investigating rewarding clicks too as a possibility.

My question is: the tech for this in its simplest form is obviously easy, but the opportunity for fraud on either side is rather spectacular. Is it worth even looking at?

Thanks in advance for any comments.
