If you use Google Shopping and you track the referrer on inbound clicks (and your site is https), you'll know that a proportion of the referrers actually include the query (with the 'q' parameter). We study this kind of data in a lot of detail and find 10 - 20% of inbound clicks from Google Shopping include the 'q' parameter in the referrer, the rest don't. Some days it's closer to 10%, others it's closer to 20%.
Does anyone else analyse this data? Any clue to when Google includes the 'q' parameter and when it doesn't?
