Anyone else having problems posting to an account with the Adwords Editor? I've been trying pretty solidly for the past hour, and keep getting the message:

Adwords Editor was able to contact Adwords, but there was a problem with the communication. Please try again later.

Meanwhile, it's left a campaign only half entered. Bleah.

I, too, have been experiencing this issue for the better part of a week.

I've also had on/off issues with the editor. Normally if I repeatedly close it down and open it up again it will eventually wade through a hefty upload - but there are difinate issues with the latest release - IMO.

I ended up having to post the changes manually, which was a pain.

Referring to a previous post (LinK : [webmasterworld.com...] ) I got error #5 : "Adwords Editor tried to modify an item that no longer exists in the account.".

I have latest version of AdWords Editor with me. I hope they get the problem resolved as soon as possible.

This is beyond impossible - between the problems with the editor and how awfully slow the web interface is working today, I can't seem to get anything done in AdWords. From here at work, I can't use the editor at all now - every time I try to fetch an account, I get the same message about connecting to AdWords but not being able to communicate. Major problem here!

A number of sites I log in to day to day are loading extremely slow, and they were all 'stuck' on loading google things (analytics, etc). Even google.com search is slow from here (east coast US).

I cannot download accounts for about a dozen clients. Been happening since Dec 26. So far Google's response has been only that it is my problem and Google is not having any issues.

Was even told to try after business hours when traffic might be slower. Didn't work then either.

Still emailing and calling to look for straight answers.

There is a problem with the new AdWords Editor or possibly the system that connects AWE to transmit data.

I've been having the problem since version 5 was release in late December... but I don't think it's version 5 related entirely. I've tried reverting to version 4 and still have the problem.

The software has a "network connectivity" issue before getting 100% of my account(s).

I've spoken with Google about this problem and they initially claimed the problem was on my end. Quite a coincidence re: the timing? But, they later admitted there is a "known issue" that they are working on. No ETA on a resolution, of course.

The other factor to take into account is that there are a number of features that were previously available through the normal adwords interface - ie find and replace etc. These are now only available vie the AWE - therefore there are likely to be a lot more people using this feature than previously - so it is possible the system is overloaded.

Another AWE problem: Often, it does not correctly report the KW's status (active/inactive) or the KW's Avg. Position. I have to manually check each time. The reporting is wrong so often that it is nearly useless.

Yes, and also the minimum CPC is not accurately reported, by a longshot. I now have to keep the AWE open PLUS the web console; I can do a lot ads, edits and deletions quickly in the AWE (if I can get it to post properly) but I can't get any real accurate representation of my accounts; for that I have to go to the web. It's not a very efficient way to have to work. Still miles above the competition, mind you, but not as good as it could be.

Are others still having problems downloading accounts? Trying download some of mine this morning, and still not working - just wondering if others have seen a resolution, or still having the same problems?...

Used it last night for one of the accounts and it worked fine. It was a new addition of old account and multiple ad updates.

Haven't paid attention to stats as I don't use editor for that.

Still unreliable for us. I can get problem accounts to work sometimes, and at different locations. It appears to be affecting only a handful of accounts, and only at one location for us.

Same here @PaidToPlay.

I can download via one network but not another. I think AdWords Editor changed something that makes it less forgiving of network congestion or etc.

I'll pass the link to this thread along to the right folks and see what I can learn.

Finally getting back to posting, today, after having been away for quite some time. My apology for the delay.

Thank you AWA. After a more than week of trying to get this taken seriously it is wonderful to see progress.

This morning we are able to access all accounts normally again and can get back to business.

A pleasure. ;)

That's excellent news, PaidToPlay.

A Quick question/request for others who have posted in this thread regarding trouble with AE: would you please post here if you are still having issues, and describe them?

Many thanks in advance,

AWA

AWA -

My reps were helpful too - they sent me an email as soon as it was fixed this afternoon.

FYI: It would have been nice for complaints to my reps to have been accepted as legitimate earlier, rather than blame my own network as the cause of the problem. It cost us real money paying IT consultants to investigate. But I understand that they didn't know either.

Thanks

My connection problems are all solved.

My 'sync' problems are still ongoing. For example, in my nice giant 24inch screen here, I'm looking at the editor, where it tells me several keywords are inactive with minimum bids of 1.00 (and has told me that for the past 24 hours) whereas in another window, I have the console opened up in a web browser, and there I see that the same keywords are active with a minimum bid of $.40.

Should I assume that, because we can't get current day stats in the editor, we're not getting current day keyword status as well?

netmeg, I'll reply to this again tomorrow when I have more time (since I getting the Advertiser Feedback Report ready-to-go right now).

However, a couple of questions:

* Is this a new occurance for you - or has it happened in the past?

* How 'old' is the downloaded 'offline' version of the account that you are comparing to your 'online' version?

Some thoughts:

Since an offline version of the account will not be updating 'live' as things change, some difference as compared to an online account are to be expected. But I am certain that you are already aware of that.

That said, here is what I think may be happening: I have understood that when you 'get recent changes' only, these changes will not necessarily include information on Minimum CPC and thus active/inactive status.

On the other hand if you download the entire account, this info will be included.

I'll confirm this tomorrow with a couple of colleagues and post again.

Not quite sure which error you are referring to, rockyfp.

If it is the type of error about which netmeg first posted, then I think it's best to contact AdWords support and let them know the details, so they can look into it.

"Adwords Editor was able to contact Adwords, but there was a problem with the communication. Please try again later."

Now the error is gone again.

Thanks for your reply, AWW.

I've been trying to post mass quantities of changes today, and it's locked up without posting every time. I've saved off a copy of my changes in CSV format, rebooted, actually reinstalled the AdWords Editor, and loaded back in my changes. Every time it just stops, without posting any keywords. So I've got a bunch of empty campaigns and ad groups, there's no way to import from CSV file anymore (is there?) and apparently no way to get the AdWords Editor working again. So I am looking at typing in 637 keywords with their various match types. This does not make me happy.

This version doesn't seem quite ready for prime time.

I'm having troubles just now as well, even working directly in the account making changes by hand.

Something is definitely out of whack.

Yea well, this is a major problem, and the support contact form/chat request page won't even come up. Is no-one minding the store?

Business *is* conducted over the weekend. Things don't just stop between Friday and Monday.
