I currently use 5 ad units:

High Resolution
300x250 above the fold
300x250 below the fold
Responsive near the bottom of longer pages (only if it fits)
728x90 in the footer

Low Resolution
The 300x250 and Responsive banners disappear
728x90 at the top (below navigation, above content)
728x90 in the footer

Each are added to a Custom Channel that only holds the one ad unit so they can be individually targeted (something I did many, many years ago), and then all 5 are also added to one more Custom Channel that describes the site, so that the site can be targeted.

I understand that if I delete any of these channels then I'll lose the advertisers that are targeting that specific channel, so that's kind of a pain... I can't really do any cleaning up without losing potential advertisers.

Now, I would like to figure out how much money each feature of my site makes; eg, separate the Classifieds from Message Boards, Weather, News, etc.

From a previous discussion, it seems the best option is to create 5 ad units for each feature, then add all 5 of them to a single custom channel that is specific for each feature. So if I have, say, 10 features, then I'd create 50 ad units and 10 channels, with each of those channels grouping 5 ad units (the two 300x250s, the responsive, and the two 728x90s).

Is that right?

Assuming so, how do I tie in the existing channels without losing current advertisers that are targeting my sites? Would I add all 50 ad units to the current channel that describes the site?

Would I also add each ad unit to the channel that fits it's location? Meaning, where I currently have the 300x250 above-the-fold banner in a channel that is named "300x250 ATF", would I add the 10 new ones that will be in that location to the same channel?
