I was mucking about in my AdSense account settings, and I noticed one for setting my time zone. I'm pretty sure that was never there before, and it's always been something of a pain for me because AdSense reporting was on Pacific time and everything else including Analytics was set to my normal Eastern time. So I set AdSense to Eastern time, and it says I might have some confused reports the first day, but from now on I'll be seeing my reports for my own time zone (presumably rolling over the stats at midnight)

Is this new? Like I said, I sure never noticed it before.

I hadn't noticed that either. I am in the Pacific time zone so I need no changes but I do think that it is something that should've been made available years ago.

Google announced the new time zone reporting

Over the next couple of weeks however, you’ll be able to view your daily earnings based on your local time zone, giving you the latest information.Local Time Zone Reporting In Google AdSense [adsense.blogspot.com]
When you update your time zone preferences, your existing saved and scheduled reports will be migrated to your preferred time zone automatically while future reports will also be based on your indicated preference. Updating your time zone preference will only affect your earnings data going forward and does not apply retrospectively.

Cool; thanks! I still have the "you have just changed your timezone" notice, but so far haven't noticed anything off the mark as far as stats. My OCD likes it when things line up.

Beware: if it's a typical google feature then once changed it can never be changed back. They did this with login email settings and with reporting currency settings. I can't see any reason you wouldn't want the reporting in your local time but if you run into a reason, such as making charts align correctly for reports etc, you may be out of luck.

Can you confirm this by trying to change the timezone back temporarily netmeg? Is it possible?

You can change it back; the option is there. What if I moved across country? It would kind of defeat the purpose if I couldn't change my time zone to suit.

A couple people have told me that third party apps aren't switching the time zone (and probably no reason to think Google's gonna support that) so be aware.

How to:
To change your account time zone:

On the Home tab, visit the Account settings page.
In the “Account information” section, next to “Time zone”, click edit.
Select your time zone from the drop-down list.
Click Save.

Unfortunately, all my “Account information” section only has:

Account information

Publisher ID: pub-1234567890
Customer ID: 1234567890
Active products: Content 68% publisher revenue share
Search 51% publisher revenue share

No Time Zone? Maybe Australia doesn't have a Google Time Zone?

i changed back to pacific time after some tests, but now i have 2 identical times and the message on top is still there:
This report includes data for dates when your account had a different time zone to your current time zone

Account time zone: (-07:00) Pacific Time
Billing time zone: (-07:00) Pacific Time

why i was playing with this arghhh

They'll take the stripe off eventually I'm sure.

IanCP, their blog post says this:

Over the next couple of weeks however, you’ll be able to view your daily earnings based on your local time zone, giving you the latest information.

so maybe it just hasn't been rolled out to Australia yet.

Changed timezone and earnings went to hell. Despite the recent warm spell, it isn't that hot here. At this stage, I'm beginning to wonder if they broke something.

I seriously doubt that has anything to do with the timezone. I changed mine, and if anything, I'm up a little over where I expected to be (also doesn't have anything to do with the timezone)

Went to change my time zone this morning and noticed that it stated that the billing timezone would stay on Google time.
Decided I didnt want the displayed stats and billing to be 9 hrs different so left it as it was.
