Schuh said that master passwords merely provided users with a false sense of security, and that when users granted someone access to an OS user account, “they can get at everything.”

Chrome browser security tech lead response: [news.ycombinator.com...]
We want to be very clear that when you grant someone access to your OS user account, that they can get at everything.

While this applies to all browser types, Chrome does not obfuscate passwords and their reasoning is that people could get them anyway when they have access to your computer. Apparently it's not wise to log into your accounts from any computer that is not yours and runs Chrome. Not your friends, not your work, nowhere but home.
