Google Inc., owner of the most-popular Internet search engine, filed an appeal seeking to overturn a copyright ruling in a Belgian case that restricted the company's ability to link to news stories.
"They filed their appeal ahead of their June 25 deadline," Boribon, secretary-general of the newspapers' copyright agency Copiepresse, said by telephone today. "This does however not mean that the ongoing negotiations between the two sides are interrupted."
A Google spokeswoman, who declined to be identified, confirmed that the Mountain View, California-based company filed the appeal.
