does Google allow "PageRank For Sale" ads ?

I thought Google frowned on this, yet they accept these ads

I'm confused. About 18 months ago, Google considered it high treason to openly sell PageRank. Now I see ads fed from Google in the Washington Post that explicitly advertise PageRank for sale. Here's a screen <snip> shot[/url].

Is it okay to sell PageRank now?

Thanks for the bump, but still waiting to hear, Macro. ;)

Essentially, it seems as if it is allowable now, as the evidence suggests it!

What I was hoping to find out is what future plans may be. So, I'll keep working on it, and post when I know more.

BTW, this may be a good time to say that I'll be 'out of the office' Friday thru next Tuesday, and won't be able to post here during that time. So, this week, last posts on Thursday - then back on 6/3. ;)

I should probably create some mystery by saying that, well, I may be there. ;)

But the honest truth is that I won't be, with reget. I'll almost certainly be at a future PubCon though.

Looking forward to it!

Let me get this straight--Google now says it's OK to do the things for which they busted SearchKing? Does this mean they're no longer "Spam *******" and Bob Massa was right along?

Or is it OK to sell PageRank just as long as you buy ads from Google.

Does the irony of this strike anyone else?

Shak, it's not just about buying PR. For those of us who have a little PR this makes for a nice little side earner to SELL PR (especially if it's not going to upset Google or get our Adsense accounts banned).

Exactly. It's not the uniquely democratic nature of the web. It's the uniquely capitalist nature! (Feel free to remove 'uniquely from that last sentence.)

OK, I've got some more feedback on this question.

So, advertising to assist with PageRank isn't a problem. Selling PageRank, however, is another thing - and ads/sites are reviewed on a case-by-case basis along these guidelines.

If you're seeing ads promoting the sale of PageRank, then it's possible that those ads have not yet been reviewed/disapproved. At least let's hope that's it. ;)

In any case - thanks for the heads up. This has been passed on to the right folks.

Hey,

Yeah, I seen an ad selling page rank also the other day. So now all they have to do is change a couple words in the ad, and it's alright?

C.K.

So, I can assist someone with pagerank by putting an ad on my site?

Wow. Am I interpreting this right? It sounds like selling "text links" as "advertising" is ok with google, even if we state "these ads may help with google PR" .. but its not ok if we say "We sell pagerank"?

Why then are some sites clearly blocked when it comes to the passing of pagerank? does the PR algo now take into account theming?

Something isn't adding up here.
