Yahoo has hired Dr Prabhakar Raghavan to lead its research and development group. He will preside over their three California based research labs and spent a lot of time as a researcher at IBM, working at the Almaden Research Center. More details:

Raghavan has taught at Yale, and has been inducted as a Fellow of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE). He will continue as a consulting professor of computer science at Stanford University, has written several books, over a hundred research papers and also holds several patents, including some on link analysis for web searching.
