The Breaking News post about Inktomi supplying search results for MSN could be big news in Asia, or so it seems. I know that MSN Japan barely shows on anybody's radar screens here. In Japan MSN Search
has an editor powered directory and web search results provided by AltaVista
. There is no Add URL
and it usually falls well below the big guys like Yahoo
and several of the LookSmart
powered ISP/directory portals. This could only be good news for MSN Japan as far as I can see... It's a little early to tell what effect if any this will have on Goo
, who is Inktomi's only partner in the Japanese SE market now. It will be interesting to see how things pan out.
How's this affect the rest of Asia?
