A few months ago we did a 301 redirect for one of our sites to a shorter domain name. Before the redirect was performed, we would come up in the top 10 under Google for specific search phrases. Now, after the redirect, when we run those same searches, we do not come up anywhere in Google.
Has anyone else had this happen after doing a redirect? Is this an indication that the redirect was done incorrectly?
Thanks for the help.

No, sadly it seems that google has just moved the goalposts without warning. Getting indexed is becoming a nightmare. You are either left out in the cold (the sandbox effect) or ignored by bot or hit by the bot so hard you almost denied service. Like yourself I would love to know "what happened"? I would also like to know the new "terms of engagement".
