Remove URL on Google

Does not work for me, any other quick method to remove URL from Index?

Create a robots.txt file and in it put:

User-agent: googlebot
Disallow: /

More details at:
[searchengineworld.com...]

But still it will show up in index as there external links pointing to that perticular page. Also this is quiet a slow process - urlconsole/controller was a very good service...don't know, whats wrong with it :(

shaadi, did you get some error message, or did it just not seem to have any effect? If a site is down, it can take a few days for us to verify that the site is well and truly gone.

The other possible suggestion is to allow Google to crawl the page, but use a "noindex" meta tag. I think that will prevent us from even showing a reference to the page (you may want to experiment to make sure this is true, but I think it is).
