Yes it would be applicable. Good SEO is timeless.

However, it all depends on who it is written by. I've seen stuff that was still good today from 99 by some guys, but stuff written yesterday by others was junk.

Do not mention which one please.

I have been doing SEO and websites for over 7 years now. I would say Brett Tabke is one of the best.

Yah, if it's giving good solid advice about how to build a better site, info from 2002 can definitely be relevant. If it's more 'here are super-secret tips and tricks' kinda stuff, it probably won't age as well.

SEO basics are same every where. However, search engines keep updating there algorithms ever now and then(especially google)to minimize the manupulations done by SE optimizer.
Optimization is more of a hit and trial exercise. It demands constant watch of the search listing trends, keeping eye over differnt datacenter activities, timing and nature of updates, penalising trends, etc etc and etc.
Be on your toes 24 hours a day keep a keep a watch over every movement of bot and you'll be a successful optimizer.

Seems to be working ok on Yone search engine at the moment but I agree that good SEO is more about building sites that work and stand the test of time.

Yeah right, i have nothing else to do! =P
For someone who has actually a live and offline activities like kids and spouse, this basically means you have to hire someone to do it for you, right?

cheers

I would not base all decisions on a book at this point, not a good idea.

Some content may be accurate but not all of it, if you did everything it says you could face trouble w/your listings.

PR and SEO ideas?

I am an old guy who decided to follow the Brett Tabke system.

Some time ago I noticed that a two word webmaster’s search term listed 2.5m and that the No.1 was a PR8 with 18,000 backlinks. I wrote and asked for a link but, not surprisingly, did not receive a reply.

Despite reading on several SEO sites that content is much less important now, I decided to create a one page site based on what I thought might be good content, and gave it one backlink, which provided a PR4.

It has been No.1 now for several months, only to be beaten into No.2 yesterday by a directory in which it is now listed.

Keep adding good content, and forget about PR.
