Ian Turner has been found - alive and healthy!

He has lost his passport and he is in Atlanta. Should be home with family shortly.

I am very happy for you and your family Ali.

Thanks for all your help Brett.

Brett often talks about creating a community in WebmasterWorld. It's not just a place to post and learn (although it's great for that), the word community seems to be an over arching goal (at least IMHO).

The response from many webmasters, bloggers, and just internet junkies has been amazing to watch over the past couple days.

I think these few days shows that this isn't just a forum - it's a community.

Thanks to Brett for that.

Welcome home, Ian.

TREMENDOUS NEWS!

I don't know Ian, but I have been checking back religously for news. Glad all has worked out and he is "safe and sound".

Brett - I have never met you either, but it is just amazing how this forum has come together as a community...an international/global community. A simple "thanks" doesn't seem like enough, but sometimes is speaks a thousand words.

What wonderful news! I have been so worried! I sat with Ian at lunch at the conference one day and then bumped in to him a couple times after and it was just freaking me out that harm could have been done... I kept hoping - let this be a walkabout or an episode of "The Terminal"... I honestly don't CARE what it was! Just absolutely happy that he's safe! :)

I totally agree with the thoughts posted by others in this thread...

I am also in the investigative business and am very familiar with how situations like this don't always have such happy endings. I've very relieved that Ian is safe and will soon be with his family again. I've never personally met Ian and didn't even know about him until today - it is certainly clear that he has a lot of people who care for him so I feel like he must be a terrific individual.

As the old saying goes, actions speak louder than words, and it's refreshing to see such a large group of people ready and willing to help in any way possible. Very cool indeed! You all have my respect and admiration.

Welcome back Ian. I didn't speak with you at the conference but I definately noticed you. So tall and that hair, you reminded me of my brother. Glad all is well.

So glad to see good news which is so rare these days!

I can't believe I didn't think of the passport issue as the reverse happened to a friend of mine who flew to London, somehow lost her passport in the flight (she was able to board) and was put into a detaining cell and treated fairly unpleasantly until it was all straightened out.

So I hope he was treated a bit better over here (but probably not)...

I won't ask what happened - very glad everything worked out!

PS: Brett, you have 5 asterisks on the left of the message above on the top right, and only 4 on the right.. I'm probably the only perfectionist that noticed :) - I'm extraordinarily sensitive to balance and thus feeling a little dizzy right now - he he he

Seriously made my week but what the hell happened? One minute I'm watching Ian swiming circles in the pool on the sixth floor of a crappy hotel and the next I'm praying for his safety. What happened?
