What is the relationship between all three google servers? In the past I have noticed that some of my pages have move of my newer pages appeared on some either www2 or www3 but not on their "main" www.google.com server? Now I searched www3 server and it contains yet another "semi-old" version. The recent version is nowhere to be found.

Definitely updating, very nice except for one where I was beat out by pure page rank.

nirv, they shuffle around between 2 and 3, it's not stable at this point. But we don't see it on www until later in the update.

Congratulations, GoogleGuy! That just goes to show what low keyword density and half-way decent Page Rank will do for ya.

Here's hoping my PR issue this month has been sorted.

(Just doing a quick look around seems more sites have PR problems at this time)

Anyone got back their lost PR?

GG, that's good!

We pull from such a huge kw base around here that I'm not done analyzing the last update let alone the new one.

I would have thought that your PR WON'T return until the update is over. Just my opinion but I always presumed that the Toolbar gets it info from www.google.com but I am probably wrong :)

Thanks

Cowcool and JonB,

diddlydazz is absolutely right; dont be concerned about PR yet, this isn't a full update to Google's real database yet.

Once you can see the new results on www.google.com, that's the time to check your PR. Chill out for the moment until it happens in full. However, you can check your placement for your various keywords on www3 with some degree of certainty now, knowing that that's gonna be pretty much what finally appears.

I must add that yesterday I had 3(!!) hits from google and 2 of them are on phrases that now I cant find my page anywhere. So maybe PR will return after the update is finished. Let's hope!

Does anyone know when the FINAL update will take place? Or roughly? (compared to previous months perhaps).

"Does anyone know when the FINAL update will take place? Or roughly? (compared to previous months perhaps). "

I was told that it is on the new moon - this Sunday I think...

Yippee! google found me again! This past month was horrible..

> new moon

A misnomer. Pure coincidence. The cycle is just every 4 weeks (28days). They just happen to line up.

It will take until next week for it to lock in on the results.

Looking at the results so far, I'd say that many people's PR is gonna spring back up to normal levels. That's just a feeling I get from seeing the quality and order of results that are appearing.

Mud, it normal takes several days to show through. But no-one knows for sure, it could take be sooner or later than that. You'll find out here first I'm sure.

Anyone think it is too late to squeeze in some more pages for this update?

I linked up some pages on Wednesday and they are already showing up on www3.

the newest site is showing up on the SERP as being in the directory, but when I search the directory it's not there ?

am I to presume that the directory I am searching is www.google.com and it's just not there yet ??

also when it does go into the directory shouldn't that help my ranking ? ie is www3 REALLY showing the proper results ?

Sorry about so many questions :)

Dazz

He.. he..

I doubt whether we learn much from Google updating (that's smart strategy on their part and I am totally for it!)..

..but we sure have a lot of fun..

Looks like the links have been updated. There's one from December 29th, 2001. No doubt, it's on a page with the date.

Googleguy, I disagree with the fact that when you search for search engine, Altavista has "The Search Company" in its title. Surely its name is enough. Also Excite comes up as "Twins and Multiples
Description: Chat on various different message boards about twins and other multiples." False name AND description.

I think Google should ban them both!!!

That is what I call an update :)

You won't see PR until it is on WWW.G

However, I checked 6-7 sites that were penalized - and if they are any indication - the all white PR penalty is going to still be there. I can't guarantee it will be all white - maybe they will make it red, but the penalty is there none the less.
