So far I've rechecked six of the affected URLS I was sent this month; I finding four are fixed (i.e. the rankings are back along with backlinks and sensible cache) but two of them I'm not sure about yet. But both were slightly dodgy (although not, as far as I can tell, on purpose).
I can't complain too much - as not all were OWNED by me, and the update in general treated me well. As far as I can tell - no new sites banned (I have more than 100 - so I haven't checked them all). And I managed to improve ~75% of the ones I wanted higher listings on.
I'll be able to know more later, but as of now - it still appears to me they will be banned. I did pull some links, but not too many where I don't think I could tell.
1. Each update our site goes to around 4th or 5th at the bell for the ww3 update.
2. By the end of the major update when www3 results seem to go on to www, the site rate higher.. around 1 or 2 and stays there for a week or two.
3. During the month it slowly slides down to around 5 or 6 by the time another update starts
4.Then the same behaviour starts again.
What I'm seeing that I havent seen anybody else report, is this changing of rank BETWEEN updates.
Anybody else seen this..? Know what it means?
As you can see, I'm not sure why the fuss and fun during updating time, when I see changes every 2 to 3 days.
I also see similar behaviour, with my sites in high tech fields. They are generally overtaken between updates by news pages, which seem to slip away after the update.
My guess is this
Update occurs including old news pages.
www3 filters out old news before going to www, thus causing increase in ranking.
News sites are spidered and updated during the month causing new entries in dB which cause a slow drop in position for the site.
