Tomorrow, 09-December-2018, the Mother of All Demos is 50.
For an hour and a half on that historic day in 1968 Douglas Engelbart, in a session titled a research center for augmenting human intellect, demonstrated the future of personal computing to the Fall Joint Computer Conference of the ACM/IEEE (Association for Computing Machinery / Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) in San Francisco.
Note: you should really read how the presentation was technically accomplished; that alone was/is fantastic.

All the above and more were part of the NLS (oN-Line System) designed by Dr. Engelbart at his ARC (Augmentation Research Center Lab) that totally stole the show receiving a standing ovation.
If interested it is on YouTube. IMO well worth the watch.
Pretty much everyone has heard the story of Xerox Parc and Steve Jobs and Apple...
Before all that there was ARC.
