Facebook has announced [newsroom.fb.com] in an update notice that they are expanding on their App Developer Investigation that started in March of 2018 related the Cambridge Analytica issues. FB says that tens of thousands of Apps have been suspended and we should expect to see more during this new stage.
Our App Developer Investigation is by no means finished. But there is meaningful progress to report so far. To date, this investigation has addressed millions of apps. Of those, tens of thousands have been suspended for a variety of reasons while we continue to investigate.

They go on to state that they intend to do annual investigations on every app going forward.
We’ve removed a number of APIs, the channels that developers use to access various types of data. We’ve grown our teams dedicated to investigating and enforcing against bad actors. This will allow us to, on an annual basis, review every active app with access to more than basic user information. And when we find violators, we’ll take a range of enforcement actions.

In addition to taking legal action again some of the bad actors they have rooted out, they will expect App Developers to justify the use of data requested by their apps and certify compliance with FaceBook's new standards as well as submitting their apps to audit on request.
