Facebook Incís struggles with hate speech and other types of problematic content are being hampered by the companyís inability to keep up with a flood of new languages as mobile phones bring social media to every corner of the globe.

Deallng with 111 languages (and 41 more in the wings) is a tough slog. More content mods are desperately needed. Governments have recently taken to blocking FB during internal crisis, most recently Sri Lanka. Germany has enacted severe fines for allowing hate speech to spread. More gov interventions may be on the horizon unless FB can respond to these issues.
