Firefox can't find the server at ssl.#*$!.org.

Poor #*$! fought valiantly, but apparently in vain.

Another reason to avoid Google at all costs.

Blimey! Apparently, even their name is censored at WebmasterWorld!

Yikes!

Why on Earth is it censored Gents?

Not entirely sure which specific name you are talking about in this case, but you are correct that certain services are off-limits to discuss on webmasterworld. One particular "information scraper" that I tried to discuss kept getting the '#*$!' curse-word treatment by the forum software as well. Off limits topic.

Maybe someone out there does not like bad press, and applies pressure to not get their name found in discussions on a web-search? I guess only the webmasterworld powers that be can answer that question.

Unfortunately, filtering is done at post time, so I cannot see which site the OP is referencing.

Generally, specific sites are put on the filter list only after an aggressive forum spam campaign. It is a decision made by the administrative staff and is something not done lightly.

We sometimes will remove sites from the filter list if we determine that it is appropriate.

If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me or another admin via stickymail and we can discuss the situation further with you.
