The Wall Street Journal reports that home improvement photo (spam) site Houzz has just received another round of funding in the amount of $165 million. This in addition to 28 million in previous funding. The ad site is now about to embark on trying to be an eCommerce site, but the way it sounds, it will simply "host" products...in other words, they will become a monster affiliate site for home improvement, not making any product themselves, but just pushing other companies products. They must have learned the "be everything" concept from Google.
I tried posting a few related affiliate items to my site and it was promptly booted out of the serps. Like the incredibly bad BHG.com that crashes my browser with ad scripts, it will be a big mess of ads and affiliate links with a photo and maybe a full sentence of "content" per page.
If you thought the first 28 million made a mess of the serps, just wait.
