Just a heads up for some of you guys running Kontera's in-text ads. Today their JavaScript automatically generates a popup window sposored by voicefive (a COMSCORE company). I have no idea if, as a publisher, I will get paid for this very unusual ad. If you are not familiar, Kontera is an in-text ad company so popups should never be generated from their code.

In any case, regardless of the monetary compensation, something like that should never be done without consulting with the website owner first and the fact that they chose to run it on weekends, when the webmaster is less likely to be watching the sites, just rubs me in a wrong way.

Another thing to consider is that my other sources of revenue are down because the popup is so intrusive and actually scrolls with the page covering both other ads and the navigation links.

I think they should never have done that and I'm now reconsidering running their code altogether.

So, if you have Kontera code on your pages - take a look at it today - you may be unpleasantly surprised.
