I have a website that was top 5 but now has dropped to 39 . The only difference I see is that my website on yahoo is now shown without the "www" when previously it had the "www" added to the beginning.

Would this make a difference in rankings? It seems like the update should be over by now, so I am not sure if it has to do with that.

Sorry I am new to all of this.

This can make a significant difference - the www and non-www versions can count as different sites with duplicate content.

You should ensure that you serve a 301 permanent redirect to your preferred version.
