I think the general theory is to pick the category that matches the content on your site the closest, no? Not the one that pays the most.

i'm looking for the one that pays the most right now. I use alot of bandwidth and i need to be able to cover that cost.

You can't just switch categories. As far as I know the ads served depend mainly on the content of the page, which some help sometimes from your category choice. It's pretty obvious that the category you choose for a page does not exclude ads for horse farms, dating services, mortgage brokers and pretty much anything else. I'm not sure how bad targeting would be without a suggested category, and I'm not sure I want to find out either.

The idea is supposed to be to find a topic of interest, build a site around it and then put advertising on the site, not to find the best-paying advertising and then build a site for it. Try using less bandwidth and you won't have to earn as much.
