One of the problems that has become apparent with reporting in a viral news environment is that bad reporting promulgates faster that good reporting. Misinformation and disinformation travel at the ms speeds, much like the shrapnel from a "smart-bomb". I was discussing this with, of all people" a stock broker who said that he relies on "print media" for his news, and only uses the internet for financial information. Yahoo doesn't need more reporters; Yahoo needs editors in the "newsroom" who make reporters check their sources and proof read the copy before it gets put up for the world to instantly see. That is the difference between "NEWS" and blogs. This is not a question of liberal or conservative leanings. This is about making sure that the sources and facts are checked before the story is posted. Yahoo corporate take note. If you want to be first in the new world of portable news publishing, you need to provide the best quality product. Otherwise you will be left sucking wind, again.
