Yahoo's lost... another big figure in search, that of Tim Mayer. Tim just tweeted, as shown above, that he's enjoying his first "post-Yahoo" day.

Tim Mayer, Who Worked For Practically Every Search Engine, Leaves Yahoo [searchengineland.com]

Many in the search space know Tim Mayer and have benefited from his practical input at various conferences. Although many of us may know Tim from his substantial and visible work at Yahoo since 2003, before that period Tim worked at Overture, Inktomi, Fast Search and RealNames. Wow, that list brings back some interesting memories!

I personally wish Tim the very best in whatever he tackles next. He is a consistently solid contributor to our industry and a delightful guy to know.

Yes... a long string of memories.

I too hope Tim ends up at a good place... he deserves the best... and that we continue to enjoy his presence and input in the search community. It's been a pleasure so far.

I'd also like to add my voice to the chorus of praise for Tim Mayer.

Several years ago our NFP site was dropped from Yahoo! for unknown reasons. After trying to sort it out using the standard feedback methods and drawing a blank, I finally contacted Tim Mayer directly.

He replied personally and promptly and more importantly fixed whatever was wrong at the Yahoo! end, and our traffic shot back up again.

Sincerest best wishes Tim, and a heartfelt thank you for your diligence.

A top Bloke!

Good to hear that. I can find the Mega Site SEO session listed on the session grid [pubcon.com] for Wednesday. What's the other one?

Don't know him. I see his name everywhere though. He's got a wide footprint on the web and I wish him well.

He picked the perfect season to go to all the Steeler games and watch em' march to the Superbowl! :) Guess with MSFT taking over search there may have been a redundancy coming up. Good luck Tim, see ya @ Pubcon!
