Xml files joining problem

I'm developing php application with xml support for application structure. That mean i want all entities, relations, fields etc to be stored in xml files. Now i have a problem since i'm new in xml.

Let's say we have all active shopping carts stored in one xml file and their products stored as children, something like this:

<cart id='1'>
<product id='14'>
<product id='23'>
<product id='71'>
<cart id='2'>
<product id='2'>

I also have another xml file with all products and their info like name, description, price etc.

Now, what i want and i don't know how, is to get info for products from first cart only. I have cart id and i have all its products' ids but i want their names and prices for example.

I have much more experience with mysql and that would be pretty easy with left join in mysql to get rows of products. But problem is how to do that with xml, i'm not sure what xml technology to use at all. Again it's php application. Any advice could be helpful! :P

Thanks in advance,
