I do have a great stand-alone WP theme I've used under its own domains that works extremely well. Each listing is indexed and shoots to the top in rankings. But it's high-maintenance and complex to use. I know I could install that Directory theme in a subdomain, but I'm reluctant to do that because of potentially confusing users and splitting up search rankings that would work better under a single domain. However this may be my best choice. I currently have a popular directory plugin I'm running on the site that's perfect-- I can make the listings spare and workmanlike and then they lead to a nice details pages. But I found that the listings don't get indexed. Won't work. Users need to be able to submit a listing for free and then a couple of upgrade packages. Does anybody have experience with a good free directory plugin that has these basic features?

And I'm already wrapped around the axle with a small but significant issue regarding visibility of subcategories-- but it has killer SEO value for each listing, with built in features that others want to charge for. Thanks.
